Dead
Filmmakers
Society

As a heartfelt tribute to the acclaimed and influential film Dead Poets Society, the Dead Filmmakers Society is a place where aspiring young filmmakers gather to take steps toward their dreams collaboratively, in a friendly, supportive, and motivating environment. Here, away from everyday clichés, we strive to be creative and make films in a warm and encouraging space.

Write an Idea

Using innovative methods, we brainstorm ideas together and write them down.

Prepare for it

We get ready to shoot the idea by writing the script and planning all the steps of production.

Shoot it

No matter what, we make the film together, with all we’ve got. we believe in the power of unity.

About us

DFS is a practical educational Program.

We offers a full-circle journey through the art and craft of narrative short filmmaking — from the initial spark of an idea to the final screening on the big screen. Through group-based exercises and hands-on practice, participants will gain experiential understanding of cinematic storytelling, screenwriting, pre-production, directing, and post-production.

Best Way to Learn Filmmaking

We believe the best way to learn film-making is to make a film.

“When you’re doing films, just with friends, with no money, on a shoestring… You have to be able to do all the jobs… And it’s a wonderful way to learn everything.”

Christopher Nolan

“The best education in film is to make one. I would advise any neophyte director to try to make a film by himself. A three‑minute short will teach him a lot…”

Stanley Kubrick

“It’s all about doing it—the physicality of making films. What you see at the end is never the same… it’s all about making a lot of mistakes and being brave.”
